MIND
Minimizing Distortion due Residual Stresses in Machining Lines
Redistribution of the residual stress from the bulk material during and after machining can cause distortions machined parts to be wasted or necessitate additional processes to correct the distortion. This problem costs the auto and aerospace industry heavily. MIND addresses the problem by a considering the value chain that includes blank suppliers (forming). By applying computational/simulation and experimental methods, the stress distributions will be estimated that will be the basis for distortion mitigation measure through compensations and direct stress minimization.
